MESH INTERGRATION

WHAT IS MESH INTEGRATION?

Hair loss mesh integration is a revolutionary solution for those experiencing hair thinning or hair loss. It is a non-invasive procedure involving placing a thin mesh around the scalp to help protect the biological hair. The mesh is placed on the scalp using a locking technique designed to be comfortable and discreet. The mesh is a critical component of a mesh integration system because it provides a physical barrier between the scalp and the hair topper and extensions. It helps to protect the scalp and hair from the environment or damage from conditions such as trichotillomania, it allows the hair to rest and recover from chemotherapy and other medical hair loss conditions.

The mesh also allows the natural hair to grow underneath it while keeping the extensions in place. This makes it an ideal solution for those experiencing hair thinning or hair loss who still have some natural hair growth. Once the systems Mesh is in place the closure and extension can be safely applied and feel comfortable and discreet to wear. You will also need to have mesh integrated hair extensions every 6/7 weeks.

Mesh Integration Aftercare Guide

To maintain the longevity, appearance, and health of your mesh integration system or topper, it is essential to follow the care instructions below. Proper aftercare ensures your investment stays in excellent condition.

Washing & Conditioning

  • Always wash your mesh system or topper using gentle, smoothing motions with cool to medium water temperature.

  • Rinse thoroughly—even when you think you’re done, rinse again. Any leftover product can lead to buildup or discomfort.

  • Apply conditioner only to the mid-lengths and ends.
Avoid applying conditioner, masks, or any oily products near the base of the topper or at the root of extensions, as this may cause slippage or compromise the bonds.

Colour Maintenance

  • Colour will fade over time with washing, sunlight, and daily wear.
If you have a custom-rooted topper, be aware that the colour will fade and may need a top-up

  • Hair extensions are prone to subtle colour changes due to sun exposure, washing, and general wear.

  • Avoid purple shampoos—they can damage Toppers and dry out extensions.

Product & Skin Care Caution

  • If you wear fake tan, makeup, skincare products, or lotions, take extra care near the front hairline and Topper.

  • Oil transfer can cause shedding and balding of the lace.

  • Oily skin can also affect the lace area, so apply products carefully and cleanse your skin thoroughly before bed.

Sleeping

  • Avoid tension while sleeping. We recommend:

  • Dividing the hair into two plaits using silk hair ties

  • Or a loose low ponytail

  • Avoid high buns or tight hairstyles overnight.

  • Sleep on a silk pillowcase or wear a silk bonnet to reduce friction and protect the system.

Styling & Heat

  • Keep heat styling tools at or below 110°C.

  • Always apply heat protectant before using any styling tools.

  • Ensure no conditioner, oils, or masks are present near the roots when styling.

  • Your topper or integration system may need daily restyling—a light spritz of water followed by blow-drying can help lay it flat again.

Swimming & Sun Exposure

  • Avoid swimming underwater with your mesh integration system and Extensions.
Chlorine and saltwater can strip hair texture, alter colour, and cause permanent damage.

  • Blonde hair can turn orange, and brunettes can lighten with sun exposure.

  • Wear a hat or scarf in the sun.

  • Keep hair away from sunscreen, which can stain and damage hair due to its oily nature.

Tools & Brushing

  • Use the correct brushes:

  • A blow-dry brush when styling from wet.

  • A Melissa Jade boar bristle brush for daily maintenance—ideal to keep in your bag for touch-ups.

  • Using the wrong brush can cause damage, tearing, or breakage of the hair system.

Product Recommendations

  • Use salon-approved, sulphate-free products.

  • Shampoo twice to ensure a deep clean.

  • Follow with a nourishing conditioner or hair mask (mid-lengths to ends only).

  • Finish with a heat protectant spray and serum to lock in moisture and protect the hair.

  • Remember: your mesh system or extensions do not receive natural oils from your scalp, so hydration is essential.

  • We recommend our exclusive Melissa Jade 4-Step Hair Care System, available in-salon, to keep your hair looking and feeling its best.
